A Little Taste of Home

Hi ladies,

I'm Amy, owner of Sunshine Boutique.  I wanted to share with you a little bit of my home - cattle, horses, dogs, cats and an occasional armadillo PLUS two of my greatest loves, my husband, Craig, and my daughter, Savanna.  Just this morning we got up and Craig fixed some scrambled eggs with cheese (yum) and sausage and being the sweet husband he is, he also had fresh coffee waiting :-)  I pulled  Savanna out of bed by her feet as she sleepily walked to the bathroom to get dressed.  I took her to school and the rest of the morning Craig and I worked cattle to wean calves from their mamas.  This is my first experience with weaning, as I'm writing this blog I hear the melodies of calves bawling and mamas calling back to them - I had to call and warn the neighbors ;-) It's all a part of farm life though and I love it!

*Picture this...calves in a holding pen attached to a swing tub that we covered with a big, blue tarp to give them some shade...I'm just going to tell you I had to giggle when I saw what it looked like when we finished.  I'll try to get a picture tomorrow to post so you can appreciate the description.

I'm actually a Florida native.  I graduated college from Southern Illinois University and moved to Tennessee for a job.  The place has gently rolling hills, lush green grass, winding country roads and friendly southern neighbors. I told my mom when I came here for my job interview that the small town I would be living in had a gas station with tanning beds, movie rentals, bait, life jackets, deli sandwiches, beer and gas PLUS everyone I passed on the road waved - what more could a girl ask for?  Heehee.  We live not far from Kentucky Lake so, of course, a pontoon and jet ski's are a must. My husband's friend, Dumpy, calls our pontoon "Sea Biscuit"...She's old, long, slow but reliable and was the perfect boat for us to learn to navigate the crazy depths of the Tennessee River and to park the crazy thing without tearing down the boat docks!!!

I came to know the community by working as the Athletic Trainer for the local high school.  Wonderful people in this community - I couldn't ask for a better place to raise a family and set down some roots. I opened Sunshine in 2011, WOW I can't believe it's been 7 years! It's been a long process getting established but an adventurous one. I've made life-long friends along the way and love meeting new people every day.

Stay tuned for more stories about my sweet Savanna and some funny ones I'll share about my husband when we first got married...the kind of stories that make you pee a little when you laugh :-)

Good night for now,

Amy
